I recently discovered that Vince Ferraro had a blog. I know you’re thinking, “Big deal. Who’s Vince Ferraro?”
When I first started at HP (almost 3 years ago), one of my very first projects was to manage the LaserJet Printing Blog. I know you’re super jealous, who wouldn’t want to manage a blog about LaserJet printers?
This was back when corporate blogs were a really big deal. Corporate Facebook accounts were mostly college recruiting pages because only college kids were on Facebook and corporate Twitter accounts didn’t really exist yet, Twitter was to new and besides, “Who wanted to talk to brands on Twitter?”
The LaserJet Blog was being written by Vince Ferraro the VP of Marketing for the LaserJet Business. It was well written and search engine optimized so it was getting decent traffic. When I came on we put some additional tactics in place and got a little more aggressive about the topics Vince posted about. We opened up the blog to the community and answered some of the hard questions we were getting, especially around problems with print drivers and the (then) new release of Vista.
The end result was that the LaserJet Printing Blog became the most popular of HP’s blogs (by a lot) both in traffic numbers and in comments. And we were featured in the book Groundswell: Winning in a World Transformed by Social Technologies.
Vince and I have both left HP but I was especially glad to see Vince still blogging. He’s a really smart product marketer with lots of wisdom to share.
Check out Vince’s blog: Tech Marketing Peitho. Vince on Twitter.
