It has been a wet, cold long winter here in the PacNW. But spring is slowly making itself known. It’s almost time to put away your sun lamps, soak up some real Vitamin D and get out and meet some people in person, not just on Twitter and Facebook.
I have been a bit elusive myself this winter but have vowed to be better about getting out, meeting people in person and doing some good old fashioned networking.
If you’re hoping to track me down here are some good places to start. Full details further below.

How to Build a Community Around Your Company that Won’t Turn on You
Time: Fri May 27, 10:30 am – 11:00 am
You’ve built the best product you can. You’ve created the best experience you can. You’ve worked harder than you ever have in your life. But none of it is enough. Now you have to build a community (whatever that means) in order to market your product.
We’ll talk through what it means to build a community. How you engage with that community without turning them into an angry mob, how to be transparent without being too transparent and how to make money from that community. (Yes it’s okay to make money.)
Social Media 301 - Friday June 3rd
Last but not least is an the Social Media 301 event on the Microsoft Redmond campus on June 3rd.
I spoke at last year’s 201 event and it’s one of the best social media conferences in the Seattle area. @MikeWhitmore has asked me to join the Social Inside the Enterprise panel: Social inside and outside the enterprise - how social principles apply in both situations.
Creatively engage to reach the next level of ROI
Six legit social media managers from established brands, the author of Engage!, three social media consulting firms, and the President of WOMMA will share their knowledge, strategies, stories, and tools of how you can engage to the next level.
[UPDATE] @derekWwyatt just clued me in on the #140confNW. I’ve already registered for this one.

There will be over 40 different presentations with nearly 70 speakers, all presenting back-to-back and all without the aid of powerpoint. This is Storytelling 101.
For those who cannot attend in person, this conference will be live streamed on the internet.
WHEN & WHERE? Join us May 19, 2011, for the first Pacific Northwest 140 Character Conference at the Hilton Hotel in Vancouver, Washington.
I hope you’ll be getting out and networking more as the weather starts to get nicer and if you’re in Seattle or Portland I hope to see you at one of these events. If there’s another one in the PacNW that people should be attending please let us know in the comments.
