With every LBS updating their apps and creating new apps for new platforms it’s nice to see Foursquare remember that the Web lives beyond your mobile phone.
Foursquare announced today some minor updates to their website. Most notably the two changes are two of the apps biggest weaknesses.
For logged in users the homepage focuses on your friends updates regardless of where they are. This is something that bugs me about the app. To see your friends in other cities you have to scroll past current updates in your cities and the multiple updates in your city that are days and weeks old to get to recent updates in other cities. The new Foursquare website just shows you recent updates regardless of location.
The other update makes it easier to find your friends from Facebook, Twitter and email. Yes you can do this on the phone but if you’re like me and have lots of friends on Facebook and Twitter that you don’t want to connect with on Foursquare that small screen isn’t very user friendly.
And thankfully they haven’t changed our favorite little cheat feature the ability to use http://m.foursquare.com/ to checkin to anywhere in the World.
